Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 April 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Clean Connections, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Clean Connections. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

As part of our compliance with the UK Online Safety Act 2023, we use Yoti facial age estimation to verify that users are 18 or over. During onboarding you will be asked to take a brief selfie which is processed by Yoti Ltd and immediately deleted — we do not store your facial image. Age verification is required to access the platform.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You may not create accounts for others or transfer your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Promote or encourage the use of alcohol, drugs, or other substances
  • Post fake profiles or impersonate others
  • Use the platform for commercial solicitation or spam
  • Upload illegal, explicit, or harmful content
  • Attempt to circumvent safety or moderation features
  • Collect data about other users without consent

4a. Illegal and prohibited content

In compliance with the UK Online Safety Act 2023, the following content is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal and account termination. You must not post, share, send, or facilitate:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any sexual content involving a person under 18, or content that sexually exploits minors in any way
  • Terrorism and extremism — content that promotes, glorifies, encourages, or facilitates acts of terrorism or extremism, or that supports terrorist organisations
  • Human trafficking and modern slavery — content that facilitates, recruits for, or promotes human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or forced labour
  • Encouraging or facilitating suicide or self-harm — content that promotes, glorifies, or provides detailed methods for suicide or serious self-harm
  • Romance fraud and financial scams — creating fake profiles or relationships to deceive users into sending money or disclosing financial information
  • Hate speech — content that threatens, incites hatred, or dehumanises individuals based on race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or other protected characteristics
  • Non-consensual intimate images (NCII) — sharing or threatening to share intimate images of another person without their consent
  • Drug supply — content that facilitates the supply of controlled drugs or other illegal substances
  • Illegal weapons — content that facilitates the acquisition, manufacture, or supply of illegal weapons or firearms

We report confirmed child sexual abuse material to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and relevant law enforcement authorities. We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations into illegal content.

5. Content

You retain ownership of content you post (photos, messages, bio). By posting, you grant Clean Connections a licence to display it as part of the service. We may remove content that violates these terms.

5a. Premium subscriptions

Clean Connections offers an optional Premium subscription that unlocks additional features. The following terms apply to all paid subscriptions:

  • Pricing: subscription prices are displayed at the point of purchase. Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable.
  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • iOS App Store subscriptions: if you subscribe via the iOS app, your purchase is processed by Apple and subject to Apple's payment terms. Your subscription can be managed and cancelled at any time through your Apple ID Settings → Subscriptions.
  • Web subscriptions: if you subscribe via the website, your payment is processed by Stripe. You can cancel at any time from Settings on the website.
  • No refunds: we do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. For iOS purchases, refund requests should be made directly to Apple.
  • Changes to pricing: we will notify you of any price changes at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of Premium after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

6. Account termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, receive multiple reports from other users, or engage in behaviour that threatens the safety of the community. You may delete your account at any time through Settings.

7. Safety

Clean Connections is not responsible for the conduct of users on or off the platform. We provide tools (blocking, reporting, verification) to help keep the community safe, but we cannot guarantee the identity or behaviour of any user. Please read our Safety Tips.

8. Limitation of liability

Clean Connections is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to interactions with other users.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Online Safety Act compliance

Clean Connections is a user-to-user service regulated under the UK Online Safety Act 2023. We are committed to keeping our community safe from illegal and harmful content. Our obligations include:

  • Maintaining systems to detect, remove, and report priority illegal content
  • Providing accessible tools for users to report harmful content and behaviour
  • Responding to reports within defined timescales (see our complaints procedure)
  • Keeping records of our moderation activity and risk assessments
  • Cooperating with Ofcom as the UK's online safety regulator

If you have a concern about illegal content or a safety issue that has not been resolved through the in-app reporting tools, please contact us at safety@cleanconnections.co.uk or follow our formal complaints procedure. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to Ofcom.
